Posting from the dashboard widget

Published by jaseone under Information Technology

I was just having a look at what new dashboard widgets have popped up in the last few weeks and came across this Wordpress one to make new posts to your blog quickly & easily.

Maybe this will be the magic pill I need to start blogging more as it is only a press of F12 away at anytime. :)

Cricket event in Houston postponed

Published by jaseone under Information Technology

Well looking at Cricket World International’s website I see:

Due to the delay of U S visas to some of the key players, CWI has been forced to reschedule this great event. Exact date will be announced soon. We feel sorry for inconvenience to our supporters and cricket fans. We are confident that their support and good wishes will remain with us during this period. CWI assures them of its endeavor to bring top class player to this event.

I read elsewhere that they plan to reschedule for the Independence Day weekend and that just seems a little ambitious to me especially seeing how that is like 3 weeks away. I just wish the event seemed better organized and had better marketing as it stands they really aren’t doing anything to try to tap into the American market even though they state that as one of the goals, so what wil end up happening is that it will just be expatriates and whoever they can drag along that will attend and as great as that is for us expats it isn’t going to do anything to get cricket to be more widley recognised over here

The Flying Emu - Australian Style Restaurant and Pub

Published by jaseone under Food, Life

I just got back from a trip to Canada as I had to go up to Calgary for an interview for my Visa with the US Consulate and this time around seeing how it wasn’t just after Christmas The Flying Emu was open and what a relief that was!

For those that don’t know The Flying Emu is the best (if not only) place in North America that sells a variety of beers that us Aussies actually drink including the classic VB (Victoria Bitter), Cascade Premium Lager, Carlton Cold and Tooheys Extra Dry, along with selling Meat Pies plus chicko rolls! Now if only they had Tim Tams for dessert they would have the whole Aussie experience down pat!

The decor has a lot of Australian memorabilia as well (I will post some photo’s soon) with a personal favourite being the big boxing kangaroo Australian flag and all the staff there are super friendly so that is an added bonus! The music isn’t bad either on Thursday night they had an up and coming singer, Amy someone who was quite good, then on Friday night they had a jam session that attracted some good talent, including a fellow Aussie. :)

So if you are ever in Calgary be sure to check them out and let them know that you heard about The Flying Emu from Jason the guy that was there in June drinking all the VB he could possibly drink. :D
